If Bernie's name cannot be used for nonprofit status, I then suggest the New Progressive Party (taken from our good friend Robert Reich) or the Progressive Revolutionary Club/Party. See you on the 16th.

1st choice: The Bernie Sanders Progressive Club - San Francisco Chapter 2nd choice: The Bernie Sanders Political Club - San Francisco Chapter
I am strongly against using democratic in our name. Not only does it come with legal requirements, I personally am turned off by being affiliated with anything that has democratic in the name after this year's democratic primary and the DNC. I have an unfounded suspicion that others joining this group may feel likewise.
If we can't use Bernie's name I might suggest: San Francisco Political Progressives Club

We're not a political party, so we shouldn't use the word "party" so as to cause confusion. I agree that we want to disassociate with the Democratic Party. I also believe that having Bernie as part of our name will distinguish our group from the many other progressive groups in SF. If we can't use "Bernie Sanders" in full, I suggest that we use "Bernie" or "Berniecrat".

OK, no "Party" name. How about "Progressives United" or "Progressives Unity Club" ?

Does anyone know where the regulations regarding using or not using Bernie's name come from? ie. what statutes/codes/etc. I agree with using his name as his Presidential race is a basis for what the group stands for. It seems we need to know the regulations on this before we vote on a name tonight...
How will name election go tonight? It seems the names have been somewhat narrowed down from the long list on the bylaws. Perhaps a top 3 written ballot to narrow it down and then a hand vote for the top three from that process?

Being democratic can have its challenges. If no consensus for a name is reached, I'm OK with letting chairs of committees decide.

How about The New WPA Club. Almost everything that Bernie has proposed is basically a reinstatement and updating of the New Deal. Other ideas are:
The New Deal Club, The Global New Deal Club, The Universal New Deal Club, The New Socialist Club, The Millennial Deal Club, The Liberty or Death Club, The American Wealth Redistribution Club(TAWRC), The People Rise, The Time is Now, The Revolution is Love, The Love Revolution; Peace, Love and Wealth Redistribution; Peace, Love and Socialism; Bern the System, Love not Fear.
